Founded in 1991 as a nonprofit educational organization and located in what was a former movie theater from the 1930s in Roswell, New Mexico, United States, its original purpose was the documentation of the Roswell Crash of 1947 where rancher, W. W. “Mack” Brazel, discovered metal debris outside of Roswell, near a giant trench that spanned hundreds of feet. From which numerous conspiracies spanned, the most famous being that one or more alien spacecraft had crash-landed and that the extraterrestrial occupants had been recovered by the military, which then engaged in a cover-up. But as the said conspiracies birth more and more “sightings” of extraterrestrials and UFOs the museum expanded its catalog to include supposed UFO incidents all over the United States and around the world, and as such the museum now boasts an extensive library and exhibits in written, audio and visual formats focused on the history of pretty much all UFO encounters.
